Fight Exciting Tank Battles on your Tabletop!

The engine of the tank is a weapon just as the main-gun.”

General Heinz Guderian, German tank commander (1888–1954)

Panzer Kids Deluxe contains all the basic rules to run simple tabletop skirmishes between World War II tanks. You provide the miniatures, dice, and terrain to use. The rules outline how to set up the battlefield, deploy your tanks, move them to get the best shots on opponents while taking advantage of cover, and attack!

This deluxe version includes a host of optional rules and other resources for a more engaging play experience:

Optional rules for wrecks, flanking shots, damage effects, close range combat, hull-down deployment, hull-mounted guns, anti-tank guns, elite units, road movement, mine fields, objective, and moving objectives.

Brief descriptions and game stats for numerous tanks, self-propelled guns, and anti-tank guns from the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, the Soviet Union, and the United States.

Guidelines for determining stats for your own historical tanks.

Four historical scenarios: “Tetrarchs in the Forest,” “Vichy’s Last Charge,” “Rommel at Arras,” and “Hellcats in the Bulge.”

Panzer Kids introduces wargaming newcomers to fundamental elements like movement, range, line of sight, cover, and casualties. Appropriate for adults interested in learning about miniature wargames or introducing children to the hobby.

Are there rules for crews? I'd like to find a relatively simple set of armor rules that include some crew variation so we can play out Girls Und Panzer.

I was a bit sceptical since the rules are so simple, but after a couple of solo games I can say that I like them. I suggest to use all the optional rules, except maybe if you play with children. I am using 1/144 (10mm scale) models and cm instead of inches.

The more I play, the more I like it :) I suggest some easy variant rules:

1) FOG OF WAR at the start of each turn draw a card to see who moves / attack first: black = axis red = allied
2) CRITICAL HIT whenever a tank gets a hit roll 1 d6 if the result is 1 the tank is destroyed (roll 2 times if the tank gets 2 hits form a side shot)
3) VALOUR CHECK when a force is reduced to 50% (round down) at the end of that turn each surviving tank rolls 1d6 if the result is 1 it leaves the battlefield(remove it from table)

I think other simple rules can be added (supporting artillery, smoke, anti tank infantry teams, etc);

and what about a Cold War / Modern variant?

After playing five solo games to get the feel of the thing, we played a three player game last night, on a 3x5 desert board. My wife ran three Stuarts, Shane had three Shermans, and I ran three Pziv's and two Pz III's. the game was a huge success. Everyone had fun, and the tanks did had subtle differences. We played with the "damage' rules, and they make it a lot more challenging.
After Command Decision, and Flames of War, it is fun to play a good game in less than an hour, with no need to mangle a rule book in the process.

BTW I found a few 'stat questions: The M13/40 speed seems high at "15". The Valentine has no stat line, the the stats for the Matilda SEEM to fit the Val... The 17 pounder line is also missing.

I hope you will get some infantry rules out soon. I Preferably organized by fireteam. (I don't want to re-base ANOTHER army.........)

I regret I decided not to include infantry rules and keep this strictly a fluid, vehicle-based game. (I had a host of additional optional rules I chose to leave out to avoid overwhelming younger players, especially whey they wanted to use all the optional rules.) That said, I have several bits of supplemental material I hope to post for free over the summer: the rules summary and tank stat card sheet from the Panzer Kids Basic PDF, some print-and-play flat terrain, and possibly some of the optional rules I left out (including extremely basic ones for infantry squads).

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
