Fenian's Revenge

A Victorian Science Fiction Submarine Kit

15” long x 4” wide x 4” high

VSF Sub #1

Early in the spring of 1870, The Fenian’s Revenge #1 slid down the ways into Copenhagen Harbor where it straight-a-way sank right to the bottom carrying with it, its designer Professor Ossian McEvoy,  its Captain, Rory MacShane and two unnamed crewmen.    After the initial shock of the loss of the bold Captain and crew Mrs. Maureen McEvoy arranged for the O’Cullen Salvage Company to dive on the supposed location of the wreck and recover it if possible.

Weeks went by and the harbor folk became accustomed to seeing the salvage barge anchored over the wreck of the submarine.   The services for the dead had been held in the Seaman’s Chapel and the floral tributes that had been thrown into the harbor had long since drifted off.   After a week or so, the newspapers and their readers lost interest in the fate of the “Crackpot McEvoy” and focused their attention on a juicy political scandal which had just broken.

And so it seemed that the fate of the lost submarine would join the ranks of the great mysteries of the seas.  Given a few more weeks and it would have been forgotten all together.   That is, until a string of mysterious unexplained, disappearances of British Registered vessels in the Chanel and the North Sea began to awaken the interest of the British Admiralty.     Then someone remembered the depredations of Captain Nemo and his Pirate Submarine.   Mycroft Homes looking back though his collection of recent newspaper clippings saw the name “Fenian’s Revenge and put two and two together – it only having been a little over two years since the Fenian revolt of 1868.

A British agent, who rushed off to Copenhagen, could find no trace of the two widows or any family for the other missing crewmen.    When questioned about the wreck of the Fenian’s Revenge, Cullen O’Cullen of O’Cullen Salvage Company just said, “We couldn’t find it.   It is pretty murky down there.   It must have sunk into the mud.”

Thus it was that the saga of the Rebel Submarine began.   Get your copy of the Reviresco Kit now and join in the fun.  Create your own tales of mystery and intrigue as the British Navy goes full steam ahead in the search for the Fenian’s Revenge.

Reviresco’s download kit of the full hull version is an easy build with three pages of parts and three pages of photo illustrated instructions.    This kit is a 6 in 1 kit with 6 possible color variations.    “Just how many of these damned Fenian submarines are there?” screamed Vice-Admiral Portly, as he ran for the life boats, abandoning the sinking Cruiser HMS Fabulous.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
